More playing with my lens. Chantel was my victim this time!

Playing with my new lens

I got a new lens. 50mm f stop 1.8. I am finding it way harder to use and I get blur way to easily. It has only been a few says since I have had it so I need patience in learning how to use it. I find that when it is not out of focus and I got it to work- the result is very rewarding. I love how wide of an aperture you can get.

playing with shutter speed

This is the exact same section of the waterfall. The one on top was my attempt to freeze the water drops. The one on the bottom captured the motion.

I was having fun playing with my shutter speed. I did an online tutorial and did something similar at home with the flowing water.

Maui-I was so busy I did not have time to tinker with the camera..but here are a few I like:

This picture above I had fun with. I like how I can freeze images. I love the way the water droplets are frozen. I have lots more to learn about freezing images and really want to learn more about it.

This picture above is one of my most favorites from our trip.

I make all my kids friends pose for me. They all seem to like it!

Chantel's first of many shoots

Chantel was a good sport and let me take a million pictures of her. She is a great model and will pose really well for me.I feel lucky to have such a great person to practice on.

my first pictures EVER

I really like playing with aperture and that was what I mostly tinkered with at the start.

I was so excited. Darren found the camera I wanted on a fantastic deal and brought it home as a surprise for me. I was really shocked. I did not think I would be getting a SLR for many years. I have entires in my journal from when I was 10 where I recorded my desire to be a photographer. Darren has given me the tools I need to start working towards this dream I have always had. I love that he believes in me and that he gives me wings to fly. I have become obsessed with everything about photography. I am talking to everyone I can and reading every book from the library I can get my hands on. I talk Darren's ear off about shutter speeds and aperture and he listens and listens. Everything about it makes me really excited. I feel like a toddler just learning the basics. I can't wait to learn more and grow and progress. I wish I was a champ now, but I know that takes time. So hear are a few pictures. Let the learning begin!

I have to give a big thanks to a few people have really helped me start out.
